Holy Thursday (Maundy Thursday): A Night of Love, Service, and Sacrifice
Holy Thursday remembers the final evening of Jesus Christ with His disciples before His crucifixion. It highlights three powerful moments: the Last Supper, humble service, and the commandment of love.
At the Last Supper, Jesus shared bread and wine, giving them new meaning:
“This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.” (Luke 22:19, NIV)
“This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.” (Luke 22:20, NIV)
This moment reveals the foundation of Christian faith—sacrifice and redemption.
Jesus also demonstrated humility by washing His disciples’ feet:
“Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet.” (John 13:14, NIV)
Through this act, He taught that true greatness is found in serving others.
Finally, Jesus gave a new commandment:
“Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” (John 13:34, NIV)
Holy Thursday reminds believers to live in love, humility, and remembrance of Christ’s sacrifice, preparing their hearts for Good Friday and the hope of Easter.
